Greetings, all! My name is Leslie and I am honored to be joining 'Team Ecrivaine' as a contributor!
To start things off, Emily asked me to share a few things about myself...
Nicknames: Inkweaver, or I go by the pen-name KartheyM when I write fanfiction.
Age: Old enough to know better, still too young to let it bother me!
Location: Most often, the recesses of my mind.... I mean, we're talking Warehouse 13 in a Narnian wardrobe with a Stargate on the TARDIS en route to Middle Earth by way of Neverland. The rest of the time, I usually end up somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
How long have you been writing? I've been writing stories pretty constantly since I was eight years old, so... More than a decade, for sure!
And what got you into it? I guess I've always had a knack for making a story to explain things I saw or imagined. My earliest memory is of finding a children's novel before I even knew how to read, and making up stories to go with the illustrations. It's safe to say I've been addicted to books my entire life.
What's your favorite fandom and why do you love it? Oh gosh, I gotta pick just one? I follow too many to choose from!
As far as TV shows go, I would have to go with Grimm. I am a die-hard Grimm-let, and even though I love various other shows, that's the one I follow the most. The thing I love most about Grimm (besides HELLO, FAIRYTALES!) is the characters and the relationships. And I'm also biased because I'm from the area where it's filmed/set. And the writing is fantastic. And.... (read more here: http://upstreamwriter.blogspot.com/2013/05/hit-list-top-5-tv-shows.html)
I am also a stalwart member of the Lord of The Rings fandom. Everything from The Shire to longing to learn Elvish—what I adore most about this fandom is the richness and vastness of its content. (I am such a nerdfan, I've even invented my own Elvish language for my own Elvish race!)
As far as Sci-Fi goes, I'd consider myself more of a "Techno-Sci-fi fan" than "alien sci-fi." This is just because it seems like more often than not anything involving aliens just gets either lame, gross, or inordinately terrifying, whereas techno-sci-fi is always cool and interesting.
I'm a Browncoat, a Scooby (pretty much all of Whedonverse, actually), a Stargater, and a shameless Sherlockian.
What will you be contributing to the blog? Well, for the most part, I will be supplying reviews for some of my favorite shows that you all might enjoy reading and watching for yourselves, starting with Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, and we'll see where it goes from there! (If you want to read some other stuff I've written, feel free to check out and/or follow my blog, The Upstream Writer.)
